Ten cases, including Massey's, are_ set doAvn for hearing at the ensuing criminal session of the Supreme Court. In the inter-Artillery competitions Dunedin has scored G!)l points, beating all the batteries but the Thames.
In reply to the petition recently for-Avardc-d from here asking for a reconsideration of the proclamation forbidding the importation of grapes, the Government express regret that they are unable to comply Avith the request, and state that in the general interest it is absolutely necessary to exclude all grapes, no matter where grown. The letter "As regards the charge of inconsistency in admitting raisins while prohibiting grapes, I am directed to state that the Commissioner is causing inquiry to be made Avith a vieAv to sec avliether it is necessary to include the dried form of grape in the Prohibition Act."
