At the District. Court yesterday, in Ryan's case, counsel fur the prisoner applied for a new trial on the ground that the verdict of the jury was given on an indictment of two counts, one of Avhich was bad, and that the principal evidence taken referred to the bad count. Another point was that the jury returned a verdict of guilty on both counts, but the clerk of the _ Court only recorded a general verdict of guilty on the"indictment. " His Honor directed the record to be amended, and granted a rule nisi returnable on April :ird. Bail Avas allowed. An application is also being made to the Supreme Court for leave to appeal against the bankruptcy proceeding iv Ryan's
