THE GOVERNOR AT TIMARU.
Timaru, Tins day
The Governor arrived bore by special train from Christchurch at 1 o'clock on Saturd;iy, and was met by the Mayor and councillors, Avho presented an address. It was raining heavily, and the school children did not turn out to sing the National Anthem as intended. There ivas a large muster of the public present at the reception, ivhich was most enthusiastic. The Artillery band played the National Anthem. Tho Governor was driven to the GrosVCllOl' Hotel, where apartment's had been secured for him by the Town Council. The
Governor held an undress levee in the afternoon, and a torchlight procession at night. The Governor was conducted over the harbor works and shown the plans by Mr Goodall, the engineer, at 9.30 o'clock this morning. Inspection over, His Excellency and suite left at 10.15 for Oamaru by special train. There Avere a number of spectators on the platform, but no demonstration took place beyond cordial cheers as the train moved away.
