GISBORNE.
This day. Captain Chrisp, part proprietor of the Herald, was yesterday elected a member of the Borough Council. The local papers are very indignant at the pardon of To Kooti. In Poverty Bay he ruthlessly murdered a number of women and young babes, and many settlers have long sworn that they will avenge the crimes if Te Kooti ever puts in an appearance.
