CHRISTCHURCH.

This day. The final sitting of the Congregational Union was held yesterday. The Revs. AY. J. Habcns, of AVellington, and J. Robertson, of Auckland were elected members of the Council. The Customs revenue for the year received at Lyttelton shows a marked increase, the amount being £20,598. The value of imports shows an increase of £300,000, £180,000 of this amount being with the United Kingdom, and £82,000 with Victoria. Tlie trade with New South AVales aud Tasmania decreased by £05,000 each. The exports have increased from £1,447,000 to £1,055,000. There were 79 vessels registered at the port, with a tonnage of 25,904, a slight decrease. The beer duty

received last year was £13,836, against £13,261 the previous year. From all sides the crop reports speak of enormous yields, and sixty bushels of wheat to the acre does not seem to be at all an uncommon estimate. In consequence of nor'-wester on Sunday the machines were set to work at once, and have been going all over the northern districts ever since.
