GISBORNE.
December 23,
An attempt was made on Thursday night to burn down Parnell and Boylan's hall. Mr Thornton, the scenic artist, was at work there, and a lad named Boss, who was in the hall at the same time, noticed a light under tbe stage. On examination Mr Thornton discovered several lighted candles among a heap of rubbish. The police have a clue to the incendiary.
