CHRISTCHURCH.
December 4.
Intelligence has been received by Messrs A. Moore and Co., of Christchurch, that the barque Selina, chartered and loaded by them in Lyttelton with 9748 bag of wheat for Plymouth for order, has foundered on the voyage between Falmouth and Dunkirk. She arrived at Falmouth on the 23rd November, and was ordered to Dunkirk. The cargo was insured in the South British office.
Two men while bathing on the New Brighton beach yesterday were charged by a shark. They succeeded in making their escape, and the shark, getting stranded on the beach, was captured and brought to town. The Government has accepted the eerviceß of the Christ's College Rifle Company. The child named Ada Whilstoor, who wandered from her home at Woodend on Tuesday last, roamed about the sand hills without food until midday on Saturday, when she was found by two boys. She was in a very weak delirious state, but is now recovering. Large search parties were out every day until she was found.
