AUCKLAND.

September 6

Tv Tawhiao and Patupatu have been examined before Captain Gascoigne, and both deny the previous statement that Barlow's affair was a put-up job. The adjourned inquiry on tha poisoning case commences to-morrow, but the inquiry will probably be adjourned till Tuesday. Mr Cooper has been retained to watch the proceedings on behalf of Cleaver, the husband of the woman poiBoned. Barlow denies having fired the shots at himself, and states that it is impossible that he could have bribed tbe natives as stated, as he only had £5 with him. Grice and Parker's dispute with the natives over the lease of the Euahine block, near where Sullivan was murdered, haa been decided by Tawhiao in favor of the natives.
