With reference to the natives selling their cattle and goods at a sacrifice, the Herald gives instances of Mr J. Dingle, of New Plymouth, having bought twenty head of large cattle from the natives for £40, or £2 per head for full grown cattle. Again, Captain Martyn, of Manaia, and Mr Humphrey Eayley, bought seventy horses from the natives for £50. They have sold a building formerly used as £a Maori chapel, ploughs, and other things to raise money. The steamer Tui, which went ashore at Waitara, has been repaired and left for Wellington this morning. Capt.Bendall was on board.
