Mortzson has been convicted of embezzlement, and was sentenced to one year's imprisonment, to fake effect after the expiration of the present sentence. The Rev. J. Upton Davies has resigned the pastorate of the Hanover street Baptist Church. He retires altogether from the pulpit. The case against Allan, a seedsman, for an alleged libel on Mr Massey, the Town Clerk, is occupying the Court today. Messrs Haggit and Denniston prosecute, and Messrs Stout and McDonald defend.
