Mr M. R. Miller's annual stock and station report will be found on our fourth page. As in former years it is full of valuable information and interesting matter. There is to be a third brewery established in Napier, and tenders are invited for the erection of the required buildings. Mr W. Overend comes here with a large capital, and has engaged Mr H. Gibbons as his brewer.

At the Resident Magistrrte's Court this morning, before Mr E. Lyndon, J.P., T. J. McManus, William Thompson, and Charlotte Bntwell, were charged with drunkenness, and each fined 5s and coats, or; 24 hours imprisonment with hard labor. Patrick Lynch was charged with having no lawful visible means of support, and was sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labor.

The half-yearly general meeting of the members of the Hawke's Bay Racing Club was held last night at the Masonic Hotel. Mr J. Irvine in the chair. The first business discussed was in reference to obtaining a permanent racecourse. On the motion of Mr J. Leonard the following gentlemen were appointed a committee to make arrangements for a permanent course:—Messrs Irvine, Monteith, McCartney, Faulknor, Barrows, Peddie, Neagle, Beatson, and the mover. The follawmg office-bearers were re-elected:—■ Mr T. Powdrell, president; Mr G. Heslop, vicepresident ;MrG. H. Swan, treasurer; Mr H. Monteith, secretary. The following committee was elected :—Messrs Leonard, Monteith, Irvine, Beatson, Barrows, McCartney, G. Heslop, Hooper, Peddie, and Hollis. On the motion of Mr Leonard it was resolved that there should be a meeting held in the spring. On the motion of the secretary it was resolved that a subscription of two guineas entitled subscribers to honorary membership. Mr McCartney gave notice of motion that afc the next general meeting he would move that the name of the club be altered to the " Napier Turf Club." A vote of thanks to the ohairman terminated the proceedings.

We need hardly remind admirers of the legitimate drama that Herr Bandmann opens a short theatrical season of six nights to-morrow with "Hamlet."

There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of tbe Rifle Volunteers, held last night in tbe Protestant Hall. A balance-sheet was read showing a credit balanceof £80. The following were elected a committee for tbe ensuing year:—Sergt. King, Bandmaster Bell, Sergt. Chicken, Sergt. Red ward, Private Cato, Sergt. W. Duncan, and Private Barry. A match committee was appointed, composed of the following, in addition to the captain and secretary: —Sergeants Redward, Chicken, Duncan, Privates Cato, Hovell, Langham, and Bandmaster Strafford. Sergt. King was unanimously re-elected 'secretary, and Sab-Lieutenant Brooking treasurer. , Privates Barry and Hampton were appointed corporals by the captain. It was announced that the annual dinner would be held during next week. Votes of thanks to the officers concluded the meeting.

The annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Poultry and Canary Association, was held at the Criterion Hotel yesterday afternoon. Present: His Worship tbe Mayor (in the chair), Messrs Tiff en, Lyndon, Burke, Lascelles, Balfour, Dugleby, G. Heßlop, Galbraith, W. Miller, Ruddock, Blythe, Pell, Winter, Cross, Conroy, and Tuxfprd. The following report was read and adopted: —"The committee, in placing before the members of the association their annual report, wish to congratulate them on. the great success of the society's laßt show, at which the exhibits were highly creditable, and in numbers far in excess of the previous year, being 205 against 120 for 1880. They also wish to bring under the notice of the members the fact that financially the association stands much better, having a balance on hand of £41 5s lOd, as shown in. the statement, whioh has been duly audited by Messrs Hoadley and Garner, as against £11 18s Id for the previous year ; and also that there are 94 members against 70 previously, this increase in number beingdue greatly to the exertions ot the treasurer, Mr S. Hooper. The retiring committee also wish to recommend to this meeting the desirability of holding the next annual show the first week in July.'' The following office-bearers were then elected • —Patron, His Worship the fJffayor; President, Mr H. S. Tiffen; VioeiPresidents, Messrs F. Sutton, M.H.R., R. Stuart, ; J. D. Canning, and E. Lyndon; Treasurer; Mr W. A. Bugleby; Secretary, Mr F. Pell; Committee, Messrs Sainsbury, Burke, Hooper, Conroy, H. Lascelles, Balfour, Winter, Cross, Hollis; Galbraith, W. Miller, and Williams. After considerable discussion it was resolved to ; hold the annual show a fortnight after the Christchurch show. Mr H. S. Tiffen statedjliis intention of presenting a president's cup of the value of £5 ss, and Mr' * Vautier of giving his usual trophy.
