WELLINGTON.
January 25. Mr Harris, the President of the Fire Brigade Association, Vice-Presidents Whiteford and Lightfoot, and Secretary Robertson, waited on the Premier aod Mr Rolleston this morning asking them to take charge of the Fire Brigade Bill next session. The Premier said he considered that it would be better for the interests of the Association if the bill could be taken up by private individuals, and suggested that the Government would see Mr Stevens and Mr Waterbouae on the subject. Both Messrs Hall and Rolleston entirely concurred with tbe principle of the bill, and would give it all their support.
