A very excitingmeeting for the election of a School Committee was held in the hall last evening. The building whs packed, many being unable to get admission. The result of the polling was that four out ot the five candidates who were on the •' Bible in Schools" ticket were returned, and three secularists were elected. Mr Livingstone, one of the candidates in favor of the Bible in schools, was returned by a majority of one over Mr Nathan, a strong secularist. The proceedings did not close until half-past one this morning. A man named John Wilson was found drowned in the bay early this morning. He was seen the worse for liquor at ten o'clock last night. He is believed to be unmarried, and aged about 45 years. The police describe him as a loafer.
