TARADALE DISTRICT BOARD OF RIVER CONSERVATORS.
The annual meeting of tbe ratepayers in the Taradale River District was held yeoterday in the Oddfellows'! Hall, Taradale, at 3 p.m. There was a good attendance of ratepayers. Mr A. McCartney was voted to the chair. After a good deal of desultory discussion with regard to the legality of the Board by Messrs. Frame, Thompson, and T. Jeffares, which amounted to nothing, the Chairman read the financial statement for the past year, which had been duly audited by Messrs. E. Lyndon and F. D. (Signed) F. D. Lttckie, E. Lyndon, Auditors. Napier, 6th January, 1881. It was then moved by Mr H. S. Tiffen, and seconded by Mr George Rymer, that the statement of accounts as read be adopted by this meeting. It was also moved as an amendment by Mr Thomson, and seconded by Mr Burton, that they be not passed. On being put to the meeting the original motion was carried. The election of two members in place of Messrs Macdonald and L. A. Tiffen, who retire by lapse of term of office, was then proceeded with. Moved by Mr H. S. Tiffen, and seconded by Mr S. Golding, that Mr A. Macdonald be re-elected a member of the Board. Carried. Moved by Mr R. Davidson, and seconded by Mr H. Gordon, that Mr W. Lord be a member of the Board, which was also carried. A vote of thaaks to the chairman then closed the meeting.
