University Statement “In view of the various statements that have recently appeared in the Press concerning university examination foes, the university desires it to bo known that Hie new scale of fees, which was introduced to distribute tlie costs of the university more fairly among the different faculties and to remove the fee for graduation, as well as Io meet the costs of university administration, find been under eoiisider.-iiion for sonic years and was finally passed by the scuat,, at. its meeting in January, 1943,” says a statement handed to the Press last, night. “All statutes passed by the university must, before coming into operation, be approved by the Governor-General in Council. Following tlie usual procedure the draft amendments of 1943 were placed before the ’ Education Department wliich. after inquiry from the appropriate authority, deemed that no departure from the usual practice was necessary anil the statutes were finally approved by the Governor-General in Council in June 1913, to come into effect on January 1, 1943Foes at the new scale were paid for all entries closing on May 1 and are being received for entries closing on July 10., "At lhe request of the Price Tribuniiil. membi'i-s of the senate have been consulted and it inis been decided that all correspondence on this matter will be considered at the next meeting of the executive committee called for July 2SU?
