HENGYANG HOLDING OUT
NEW YORK, June 29. . Hengyang, in Hunan, is holding out in spite of heavily increased Japanese attacks. says a Chungking communique. A United Press of America correspondent says that, desperately attempting to retrieve the Honan situation, the Chinese launched strong diversionary attacks behind the Japanese, recaptured Pingsiaug and reached the outskirts of Siangsiang. The Chinese offensive is steadily developing.
The Central China News reports that (he Japanese are again using poison gases.
