New Officer Appointed The appointment of Mr. A. T. Bustard to the staff of the Wellington U.S.A, is announced. Recent pressure of work occasioned by the large increase of membership of the association has necessitated it.
Mi- Bustard, who is 28 years of age. was educated at the Wanganui Technn-iil cyl lege and was stationed before the war with the Railways Department in Aueklaud and Wanganui. Before entering camp with the advance parlv of the first echelon in September. 1939. he was commissioned as a second lieutenant, bi the Wellington Const Regiment, as signals overseas In the first echelon with the 19th Wellington Battalion he was promoted lieutenant in Egypt and served in the Western Desert. After the evacuation ot Greece he was invalided back to 1-c.vpt from Crete and later to New Zealand. nt was promoted captain while In Greece. Since his return to New Zealand he has held the appointment of G.S.O. 3 Operations and Intelligence at Headquarters. Central Military District. and IsJ nell known to Home Guardsmen In the Hawke s Bav and Manawatu districts through his conduct‘ng large-scale communication exercises last venr. He attended the N.Z. Staff College at Palmerston North, soon after his return, and was for it period liaison officer for the Central .Military District with the E.I’.S.
