CHINESE CEREMONY
A Chinese wedding of interest was celebrated in Auckland this week, when M ss Grace Gee Dong, daughter of Mr. aud Mrs. Gee Dong. Mastertou, was m« r « ed to Mr. Bruce Clem Ah Chee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Ah Chee. Auckland. J.hc wedding took place at St. David s Church, after which a large dinner party was held. After the usual toasts have been drunk it is the custom at Chinese weddings for the bride and bridegroom to go round personally offering asma 1 cup nf wine to every guest present, but. uue to the size of the gathering oni this occasion. the ceremonial wine was handeo round by waitresses in the usual way.
Coming Entertainment
The younger contingent of the victoria Lea-tie* Wellington, will give an •enterament in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on May 17, at S o clock. Now Year For Women’s Study Orcle. The first meeting this year of the Women’s Study Circle was held at the be ginning of the month. MJ'rsdent, was in the chair. Mrs. C. Stewart was elected a member ot the executive, Mrs. M' McKenzie was elected treasurer, and the social committee included dames J Chapman, H. h. Ennis, w. Gamble aud 0. Baker.. Retiring officers were thanked for their work and cooperation during the preceding year. An interesting syllabus has. been airaii«,ed for the year. The, glee singers will start practice next week. A beautiful silver teaset. —teapot, sugar and eream—with a fairly large teapot is perfectly plain except for very narrow reeded edges, and another teaset—small —has very shallow fluting round the sides, with narrow embossed edges.
