Jeffries presented Beaumarchais’ comedy, Lo Barbier de Seville.” To set the atmosphere for the evening, the play was preceded by the well-known overture from Kossini’s opera, which also supplied the music for several songs sung by the actors in the course of the play. These musical items were directed by the accompanists, Misses M. Griffin and V. Wotton. Those taking the principal roles were Mrs. Jeffries as Rosine, Mr. P C. R. Wells as the Comte d’ Almaviva, Mr. K, Twaddle as Figaro, Mr. A. W. Griffin as Dr. Bartholo, and Mr. Charlton as Don Basile. Others in the cast were Miss Pat Blamircs, Messrs. Borchardt, O. Benge and M. Findley Smith, the costuming was in the charge of Mrs. Jelfries, and the make-up was by Mr. 1. Macaskill. Hostess for the evening was Madame Finlayson.
