OWN BEACH COTTAGE
Wellington Hospital Nurses’ Plan
An ambitious project, but one which has started well, is the raising of a fund by Wellington Hospital nurses for the purchase of a section and the building of a cottage where they can spend offduty days. | The fund now. stands at £l2O and had its beginning in the sale of lavender bags. A large box of lavender was given to the nurses, who collected stripy of organdie, cuttings from sisters’ caps, from the sowing-room, dyed it in pastel shades and made the bags. A concert organized by the nurses brought in £lO, and individual monetary gifts have been received. A site at Eastbourne is in view, with plans for a cottage consisting of a livingroom, kitchenette, shower-room and basinroom. An attic top. reached by a ladder stairway, would hold six stretchers. Building costs may necessitate the idea of a cottage giving place to one for exarmy huts, but with careful thought these could be converted into quite unattractive dwelling. Gifts pf money toward this project would be gladly welcomed.
