CHARGES DENIED
WASHINGTON, January 20. A representative of the State Department testilied before the Senate Public Relations Committee that Mr. Edward J. Flynn’s appointment as Minister was submitted to nnd approved by the Australian Government before it was admitted to the Senate. Mr. Flynn categorically denied the charges that he represented a Japanese business man. bribed a grand jury foreman with the promise of a Federal job. placed a notorious gangster on the Now York payroll, or invested New I ork City funds in a firm in which he held an interest. Mr. Flvim said that no one could truthfully say" he knew at any lime that the paving work about, which allegations were made was being done by public works employees. _____________
