Mission From Britain To
New Zealand British food experts will visit New Zealand in the near future to collaborate witli the Dominion authorities concerned with food supplies in the war. The mission is headed by Mr. W. Bankes Amery, of ’the Ministry of Food, and also includes 'Mr. R. C. Hinton. Mr. Bankes Amery has had a wide administrative experience and has been with the Ministry of Food since December 1, 1939. In that department, he lias hud experience with administrative problems connected with the purchase and distribution of butter and cheese, with the development of organization for meeting food emergencies, with supplies for lighting services and with questions affecting distribution of food by retailers. He was resident in Australia from 1925 to 1929, before the appointment of a United Kingdom High Commissiouer, as representative of the United Kingdom Government under tlie £34,000,000 migration agreement. Mr. Hinton, an economist, and statis-. ticiau, was formerly a marketing officer in tlie British Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Lie was seconded to the Ministry of Food early in the war, inid during the past year he has been head of Hie general branch in the meat’ and live stock division. Before coming to New Zealand the mission will investigate conditions in Australia in consultation with the Australian Food Council and other Commonwealth Departments. ,
