(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received November 6, 1.45 a.m.) ’ ' LONDON, November 5.
The Eighth Army is racing swiftly westward today in an all-out bid to destroy Rommel’s routed forces. Tlie Cairo correspondent of the British United Press says: “Out-generalled and out-manoeuvred on land, flattened by our terrific air blows, with supply lines smashed, without air support, and with malty men demoralized, the Axis is on the tiih in Egypt. The Axis is apparently trying to save what it can from the disaster of 12 days of the most concentrated hammering that has yet been handed out hl the Western Desert. Tile Allied tiir fortes are keeping lib the blitz, and tHift road from Ghazal to Filka is a Holocaust of flaming vehicles.” “Tlie evidence is conclusive—General Alexander has won a complete victori’,' says Reuter’s military correspondent. “Rortimel, the supreme military gambler, put all his. eggs into one basket, and now he has paid tlie price. The Axis forces seem on the verge of annihilation as they face a retreat across the desert under the burning sun.”
