TURKISH NEUTRALITY
Government’s Difficulties (British mlli'itll WirelesU.> RUGBY, November L Turkey’s firm intention to observe her obligations in ‘tlie coming year were stressed, according to the Swiss radio, by President Inonu, at the opening of the autumn session of the Turkish National Assembly. Forecasting that the year might bring more violent conflicts, the President added: "A policy based on domination of the world by one nation is impossible. The events of the future will show even more clearly that small nations as well as great have the right of freedom of existence. It is increasingly difficult for the Government to adhere to its policy of neutrality since the enmity between the belligerents is constantly increasing. “At this moment our country is nearer war than at the opening of hostilities. It is above all necessary to establish an atmosphere of general confidence and, most of all. it is necessary to keep our armed forces ,in readiness.”
