MILAN’S GREAT FIRE RAID
Enemy Computation LONDON, October 28. According to the “Popolo d’ltalia,” the Royal Air Force raid on Milan caused 30 large and 300 small fires, 10 of which involved economic or industrial targets. The newspaper added that bombs also hit two hospitals, five schools, one university and several churches. ■ Istanbul reports say that the American raids on Navarino last week burned out three transports and a barque. Greek patriots attacked Italians who were attempting to reach the shore, and inflicted heavy losses. Mussolini’s Fascists have today been celebrating the 20th anniversary of their so-called march on Rome, but it •has been a quieter celebration . than those of recent years, and there has ‘been no public statement by Mussolini. Rome radio reports that he told the head of the German delegation to Rome that the Italian people are going to see the war through to the bitter end. The radio also says that Mussolini called his commanders-in-chief together and told them that he counted on their co-operation for the stern tasks ahead. Mussolini made a fleeting anniversary appearance to receive the plaudits of members of his youth organization, and then went straight on to open a war exhibition.
