WAGES AND SALARIES
American Freezing Order WASHINGTON, October 28.
The Director of Economic Stabilization, Judge Byrnes, has frozen _ all wages and salaries in tlie United States in accordance with the law recently passed by Congress. Rises in pay will not be granted without Government permission, and salaries are limited to 25,000 dollars yearly after the deduction of Federal taxes from January, 1943. Judge Byrnes told the Press that the regulations did not legally apply to President Roosevelt’s statutory salary of 75,000 dollars a year. However, Mr. Roosevelt had asked that the. payments should be limited in compliance with the regulations.
