W.N.R. Members Raise Funds The members of the Oriental BayRoseneath branch of the Women’s National Reserve in Wellington have been continuing their weekly Monday bridge parties for residential nursery funds so successfully.that not only has the annual commitment of £6O been paid, but a sum of £37/10/- has been spent on an electric ironer for the use of the staff. From the proceeds of the fortnightly Thurstlay bridge parties. £52 has been given toward the Victoria League’s effort in aid of the King George and Queen Elizabeth Hostel for New Zealand soldiers in London ; £lO has been given toward soldiers’ Christmas parcels, and £B/15/- toward comforts for returned invalided soldiers. In addition, £lO has been sent to help the lepers’ Christmas fund. The proceeds of the parlies during .the next month will go toward comforts for the blind women patients in Uorirua Hospital, and soldiers in hospital.

.Spinning Display. The October meeting of the Karori branch of the Townswomen's Guild took the form of a nautical afternoon and attracted the usual large attendance of members. AU circles reported continued progress. The war work circle had almost completed the work taken in hand for tho Home Guard. Breech covers for the rifles of members of the Home Guard were issued, and it was announced that the rest would be completed by the next meeting. During the afternoon a demonstration of spinning was given by Mrs. Paton. A number of articles, including pullovers, seaboot stockings, etc., knitted by Navy League members from the yarn they had spun wore displayed. Entertainment was provided by Mrs. Walter Duuetui Miss Betty Seymour and Miss Lois Sc< .t.

Red Cross Cabaret Dance. The voluntary aid detachment of the Wellington city sub-centre of the Red Cross Society will hold a dance at the Majestic Cabaret on Thursday night.
