Trained Nurses’ Party

A pleasant gathering took place at the vicarage, Marton, recently, when the trained nurses of Marton and surrounding districts met for an afternoon party at which congratulations were tendered to Miss Iris Crooke on her recent appointment as director-general tor the New Zealand Bed Cross V oluntary Aid Detachment. Mesdames AA . Paine and K E. Carlyle acted as hostesses. After tea and the interchange ot ntirsin<' news. Mrs. Curlyle made a presentatio'ii to the guest of honour nieiitioniiiß that all deplored the state of atlai sAhnt brought about the necessity for such an nppointment, but the assembly felt that Miss Crooke was the right ve l :^' l that position. Everyone hoped that the war would soon be over and that Miss Crooke would be back again as the hostess °Snss 01 Crooke thanked Hie nurses for their gift and after au interesting talk on her work congratulated ? Baine and Carlyle on their long peuo of service to the nursing profession both having been candidates at the hist State examination held in New Zealand.
