TENNIS BALL STOCKS
Some Clubs Much Better Off Than Others That some clubs were in the happy position of possessing sufficient balls to last them, .with care, the greater part, of the coming season, was mentioned at the annual meeting of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association last night. Other clubs, however, had few, if any balls, nml their prospects, for the season were bleak.
A delegate said that it was understood that no tennis balls were being imported this season, whereas normally between 75 and 80 per eent. were imported. Supplies made locally were only about a third those of normal years, and all had been made before last. April. Sports depots mostly had small stocks, but these would not last long, and it was probable that, stocks, all of which were last season's supplies, would be exhausted by early in the New Year. The association itself was stated to have small reserve stocks of balls, but these would be used in competition games and could not lie made available to clubs for ordinary club play.
