(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, July 27. George Campbell, 19 years old Sydney athlete, has been timed to run the mile in four minutes three seconds. Thia • is three and one-lifth seconds faster than the world record established by Gunnar Hacgg at Stockholm a fortnight ago. Campbell’s time cannot be accepted as a record. He had two instead of three timekeepers, and the course was measured with u cloth instead of a steel tape. Officiate, however, say they are certain no mistakes were made.

’The Sydney sportspiau, Mr. George Nathan, has offered to guarantee Campbell’s expenses for a trip to America to meet the world’s best in races for patriotic purposes. Campbell bolds the State native record of 4 minutes 18 2-5 seconds for the mile.
