CREDITS RELEASED TO MARTINIQUE

Action By United States LONDON, November 1-1. The United States lias released fresh dollar credits to enable the French colony of Martinique to purchase supplies iu America. This was authoritatively stated in Washington today. The amount is not available, but it is indicated that the full amount sought by the Martinique Government has been given. At the same time negotiations have been continued for the establishment of friendly contact between the United States authorities at Martinique and the Colonial Government. The negotiations were carried out on the American side by Rear-Admiral Greenslade, who is the senior member of the board which is surveying sites for naval and air bases granted by Britain. The correspondent of the Associated Press of America at San Juan, Puerto Rico, reports that the British warships have been withdrawn from Martinique since the United States destroyers arrived.
