THE WEATHER
Yesterday’s Reports Wellington.—Cold and boisterous, with almost continuous rain. A thunderstorm between 11 and 12 o’clock in the morning brought particularly heavy rain. A. moderate southerly, which blew during tile morning, freshened in the afternoon. The minimum temperature on Wednesday night was 43.8 degrees, and the maximum yesterday was 50.8 degrees. At 6 p.m. yesterday the temperature was. 50 degrees, and the pressure was 998 millibars. Palmerston North.—Overcast and showery, with some heavy falls. There was no wind. Wanganui.—Steady rain all day, and a southerly wind. Sea very rough. Barometer 995.6 millibars. Masterton. —Overcast and cold, with a light south-westerly breeze. Heavy rain fell throughout the day. Napier and Hastings.—The heaviest rain for months fell during the night and till yesterday afternoon. Westerly wind. Waipuliurau—Heavy rain fell throughout the day. Maximum temperature, 54 degrees. The barometer dropped slightly, the reading at 7 p.m. being 994 millibars. Auckland.—Fine but cloudy, with a fresh south-west wind. Barometric pressure rose slightly, the 5 p.m. reading being 996 millibars. Christchurch. —There was improvement in the weather, with intermittent periods of sunshine and drizzle. Light south-west wind prevailed. Maximum temperature 55 degrees. 'The barometer rose slightly to R 102.8 millibars. Dunedin.—Misty rain again fell throughout the day, but conditions were a little clearer on low levels. Temperatures were mild, maximum 54 degrees, '[’he barometer was steady at .1009 millibars.
