WEDDINGS
Catchpole—Luxford A wedding of interest, to many Wellington and Auckland friends was solemnized recently at St. Mark’s Church, Dufferin Street, 'Wellington, when Rita Isabel, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J’. C. Luxford, Sentoun, was married to Selwyn, only son of Mrs. L. Catchpole and the late Mr. A. TV. Catehpole, Auckland. The Rev. N. F. E. Robertshawe officiated, and Mr. E. Jamieson presided at the organ. The .bride, escorted by her father, wore a glistening gown of french silver brocade, witli tiie skirt moulded on the cross to form a very full, long train. The high-waisted bodice was shirred in front from a low square neckline. The billowy tulle veil was held in place with two creamj- feather birds, and site carried a sheaf of white gladioli, tuber roses and carnations. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Jean Luxford, Miss Joyce Catehpole (sister of the bridegroom), Auckland, and Mrs. Robert AVrathall, matron-of-honour. They were frocked alike in azure blue georgette. The very full circular skirts were topped with softly swathed bodices. Deeper blue velvet swathed the waist lines, and a feather blue bird of happiness was worn in the hair. They wore long white kid gloves and carried sheafs of cerise shaded gladioli. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Ken Logan (Auckland). Messrs. Reg. Luxford, brother of tile bride, and George Blackwell (Auckland), acted as ushers.
The reception W’as held at the Grand Hotel, Wellington, where Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Luxford and Mrs. L. Catchpole received the guests. The bride’s mother wore a black lace ensemble with stone marten furs, and a black picture hat trimmed with black and white osprey feathers. She carried a bouquet of scarlet dahlias and autumn leaves, and also wore a shoulder spray of the same flowers. The bridegroom’s mother w’ore a gown of black suede lace and a very smart model black hat. She carried a bouquet of petunia shaded dahlias and also wore a shoulder spray of tiie same toning. When Mr. and Mrs. Selwyn Catchpole left, the bride wore a smart frock of embossed french crepe in smoke blue, carrying a navy swagger coat of reindeer cloth with a grey fox collar, and navy accessories. The honeymoon was spent in Auckland. Tiie bridegroom is a warrant officer of the second echelon.
