SWEDEN’S MILITANT NEUTRALITY
Statement By Premier STOCKHOLM, May 1. The Prime Minister, Mr. Hansson, in a speech to a May Day meeting of 200,000, said that Sweden is determined to assert and defend her neutrality with all the means in her power. “This neutrality,” he said, “implies that we demand independence and freedom and to be left unmolested. We know that promises by the belligerents have been made not only with goodwill but also with consciousness of our unyielding detejfninatiou and ability to defend our neutrality and integrity.”
