Au allegation that accused bad slashed a' table knife across complainant's throat was made by Sub-Inspector E. T. C. Turner in the Magistrates'’ Court. Wellington, yesterday, when Andrew Carney, labourer. aged -111. was Charged wilh using obscene language aud with assaulting IV. It. Heenan. Mr. Stout. S.M.. was on the lieiieh. Carney was remanded till Monday.

The sub-inspector said it was alleged that Carney and several other men broke into Heenan's house on .Monday night, when an altercation took place. Finally, Carney wife alleged to have slashed a Bible knife across Heenans throat. Heenan bad to be taken to hospital and have seven stilelies inserted ill the wound. Bail was fixed at £l5O.
