Women's Contribution In Wartime
'The contribution of women in wartime was discussed at a meeting of the Business aud Professional AVomen’s Club of Hie Y.W.C.A., AVellinglou, recently. Tlie discussion followed an address given by Miss Mary Campbell, of the Public Library. Miss Campbell said that the only two famous women to have taken part in active warfare were Boadicca and Joan of Arc. Florence Nightingale had blazed tlie trail for women in tlie field of nursing. Now women took part in the many auxiliary services, doing transport driving and canteen work, as well its in the various nursing services. > They replaced men, who had gone on active service, in many civic channels.
Aliss Law, general secretary of the Y.W.C.A., led Hie discussion which followed, and interesting information was given by various members. Club business was dealt with, and details were given of Hie work of the Dominion Federation of Business and Professional Women. Aliss Audrey Bethei, president, of tlie club, thanked Aliss CamplKdl for her address and tlie evening ended with suptier and an enjoyable social hour.
