Much Needed Work Carried On By Alexandra Home At. the last meeting of the Alexandra Home committee, Airs. Bayldon
Ewen was re-elected president, last year’s committee being also re-elected. In reviewing tlie year’s work, it was shown that this work for unmarried mothers and their infants (which was started more than 60 years ago) was as much needed as ever. The work at the Alexandra Home was carried on quietly and without publicity, but it was widely supported by the public, and the gifts in money and kind that are received were a substantial help to the institution. The officers for the ensuing year are as follows: — President, Mrs. Bayldon Ewen; vicepresidents, Airs. T. E. Gorki!!, Airs. Shirer, Airs. A. Smith; life vice-presi-dent, Airs. T. H. Gill; committee. Airs. R. F. Carvosso, Mrs. P. C. AVatt, Airs. J. T. Martin, Mrs. O’Kegan, Mrs. E. O. Blamires, Airs D. Boyle, Airs. Malcolm Fraser, Airs. G. H. Kobieson; hon. secretary for committee, Aliss Al. E. Greenwood: assistant hon. secretary, Miss C. Viekerman ; Edith Huntly trustee, Airs. A. AlcVicar. Votes of thanks were passed to the hon. physician and the hon. solicitor for valuable professional help and advice, to members of the clergy who had taken services at the home, and also for much help given by business advisers. Gifts lately received included such useful items as a vacuum cleaner, cases of apples, loads of firewood, old linen, fish, clothing and babies’ garments, cakes aud Howers, from many friends, including the following: 'Toe II girls, Island Bay Plunket Society, Fletcher Gons!ruction Company, Mr. Knight, York Bay Sewing Guild, Miss Nathan, Aliss J. T. Marlin, Mrs. Alex Smith. AHsses Jacobsen, Airs, and Miss Russell, Airs. Izard, Airs. Blundell, Congregational Church Women’s Guild, and many others.
