AMATEUR BOXING

First Tournament Of Season Amateur boxers from Wellington and Hutt Valley gymnasiums took part in the first tournament of the season, held in the Town Hall last night, under the auspices of the Wellington Boxing Association. The bouts were arranged by the trainers, and the net proceeds are to be divided among the gymnasiums. There was a good attendance of the public. The officials were: —Judges, Messrs. W. P. Somnierville and P. W. Woods; referees, -Messrs. P. Thomson and P. Stone; Mr. T. Rush. Results are as follows:— Flyweight. L. Mulholland bear F. Gardiner by a technical knock-out in the third round. G? Gardiner beat J. Fraser on points. P. Dunn bea'. D. Burns on points. J. Collins beat R. Archer by a technical knockout in the first round. Bantamweight. D. A. Muir beat C. Thlstel on points. B. Murphy beat H. Carbin on points. J. Morgan beat R. Toomer by a technical kuock-out in the second round. T. Coburn beat Morris on points. Featherweight. B. Barrett beat C. O’Neil on points. Lightweight. D. Vicars beat' P. Parker on points. T. McGurk beat G. Patterson by a technical knock-out in the first round. Welterweight. P. G. Sheehan beat J. Canute on points. G. Lovatt beat H. Todd on points. F. Hopkins beat J. H. Stevens on points. Middleweight. B. H. Ryan beat W. Luddon on points. Heavyweight.
