FAREWELL TO MR. C. PRICE
62 Years’ Newspaper Work In Hawke’s Bay Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS. March 27. Sixty-two years; of newspaper service in Hawke’s Bay were completed by Mr. Charles Price, who on the eve of his retirement from active journalism was farewelled bv fellow members of the staff of the Hawke's Bay “Herald-Tribune." and others, at a gathering presided over by Mr. E. Pryor, on Saturday evening. _ A number of'messajes was read, including telegrams and letters from Mr. C. n • Earle. " C.M.G., president of _ the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association; \| r 'l'. M. Hinkley, manager of the ‘United Press- Association; the mayor of Napier, Mr. T. M. Hercock ; tbe Napier Thirty Thousand Club; Mr. B. T. Dinwiddie, manager for , the "Herald" for many years; Mr. Frank Hodge, Auckland; and Miss A. Payne, of tiie "Herald-Tribune" Napier office. Making a presentation, Mr. W. A. Whitlock spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr. Price’s period of service. The only person oilier limn staff members’ present was Mr T M Geddis-, managing director of "the" “Daily Telegraph.” He added a fur(her word of praise.
