WELL CLEARED
Offering At London Wool Sales CROSSBREDS IN DEMAND By Telegraph. —Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received March 2b, 0.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 25. Offerings at the London wool sales have been well cleared, with prices fully firm at the January level. A large proportion of the offering was greasy crossbred, for which there was the keenest competition, chiefly’ from the Home trade, but there was al«o some Russian bidding. There was also a strong demand for the broader types of Merinos, but superfine wools did nut meet good competition, though prices were unchanged. Bradford remains firm, though the export trade is restricted because of the international situation, which involves the virtual closing, possibly only temporarily, of two important Continental markets, namely Lithuania and Rumania. LONDON. March 24. Offerings at the wool sales today were 8595 bales, including 5529 New Zealand, and 7206 were sold. A moderate selection, consisting chiefly of crossbreds, met with keen competition, and rates generally were maintained. New Zealand greasy crossbreds, “Hauanu,” sold 9id. average, 9id. top price; “Owena,” made SJd., with l()}d. top price. Patukawa sold round 9Ud.. but some sold at 10fd.
