LINDBERGH TORE UP £200,000 CONTRACT
Film Company’s Offer Lindbergh could have been a film star, with a million-dollar contract. He signed it, then tore it up. This was revealed recently by Major Thomas Lanpheir, a close friend of Colonel Lindbergh. Soon after his epic flight from New York to Paris, he said, Lindbergh was approached by a famous film combine who planned a picture dealing with the history of aviation. Lindbergh was to be the central figure. He was offered a million dollars (£200,000) and 10 per cent, of the takings. He signed, but later made it clear that he was not so keen on being a film star. The producer promptly said that he did not want to embarrass Lindbergh’s career. In a New York office the milliou-dol-lar contract was torn up.
