UPPER HUTT COURT

A sitting of the Magistrates’ Court, Upper Hutt, yesterday, was presided over by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M. ' For not carrying warrants of htuess, Albert Stephen Buck, Petone, was fined 10/- with costs 10/-, and Percival Frederick Kilmister, Wellington, 15/- with costs 10/-. , , .. For cycling at night without lights the following were dealt with: Leslie Noel McCarthy, William John Barber, Leslie Arthur Gunderson, and Douglas Ivan Thompson, each £1 with costs 10/-; James Arthur Skerton, 2/6 with costs 10/-; Harold William Dalton, costs only, 10/-. In the last-mentioned case, defendant said he was park superintendent and received an urgent message that boys were skylarking in Maidstone Park. He was afraid they might light fires and went to investigate. It was still light when he left for the park, but dark after he finished his investigations. Ronald Laurie, Petone, was fined £2 with costs 10/- for dangerous driving on a motor-cycle. Robert Malcolm Scott, Wellington, and Robert William Worthington, Wellington, wore each fined £2/10/-, with costs 10/-, for exceeding the borough speed limit. Inspector C. L. Davis prosecuted in all cases but those of Buck and Thompson.
