A YEAR OF PROGRESS

Mothers' Keen Interest In Boys At Rongotai College The annual meeting of the Rongotai College Ladies’ Auxiliary was held in the college gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon. There was a large attendance, including a substantial number of mothers of pupils new to the college.

The annual report and balance-sheet indicated that the year had been progressive and linaueially successful. In viewing the year’s activities the president, Mrs. 11. G. Bruce, said it was pleasing and encouraging to report that there was evidence of keen interest by members in the work of the auxiliary. All meetings were well attended and there was at all times a display of keenness to foster the auxiliary’s activities.

Excellent work had been done by the district committees. There were successfully organized a picture benefit, card parties, art needlework display, a jumble sale. All these efforts contributed materially to fostering an interest in the work of the college and to the raising of funds for school activities.

Mr. F. Martyn Renner, the principal, thanked the president, convenors ami friends for their outstanding and untiring efforts to promote the well-being of the college.- Other matters of interest to parents were referred to by Mr. Renner, and he urged the stlß further strengthening of the auxiliary’s membership, that the scope of its good work be perhaps enlarged. In thanking .Mr. Renner for his address, the president stated that they at all times welcomed and appreciated his interest and advice, and he could be assured of the auxiliary’s undiminished efforts to promote the interest of the college and its pupils. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs. H. G. Bruce (re-elected) ; vice-presidents, Mefidaines F. Martyn Renner, F. R. Renner, Bradstock, Heron. Rossiter, Barr, Ball; bon secretary, Mrs. J. Brown; lion, treasurer, Mrs. Denby. Conveners: Hataitai. Mrs. Rough; Kilbirnie, Mrs. Mansford; Lyall Bay, Mrs. Morton; Miramar Mrs. Bradstock; Seatoun Mrs. Arney; Rongotai, Mrs.. A. H. King; Island Bay, Mrs. Gilchrist.
