SEARCHLIGHT CAUGHT BENDING
Strange Appearance During Anti-Aircraft Practice Dominion Special Service. NAPIER, March 15. An extraordinary perspective effect was noticed last night during spoiling practice with searchlights which was carried out by members of the 22nd Anti-Aircraft Battery of Fort Dorset, Wellington, which is now encamped in Greenmeadows. One beam, sweeping through light ground mist from side to .side at very low angle, gave the impression of a tremendous white bow with either end at ground level. As it. moved back and forth the maximum movement appeared to be where the beam passed overhead, both ends seeming to become part of a six-mile length of beam and to remain stationary.
