ENGINEERS’ DISPUTE
Council of Conciliation Hearing
The Council of Conciliation apijointed for the hearing of the industrial dispute in the engineering industry, after lengthy discussion yesterday, adjourned its sitting to February 15 to enable the assessors to submit amended proposals for settlement to their respective organisations. The Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. R. Ritchie, presided. The assessors for the workers were Messrs. J. Roberts (Wellington), 8. V. Thomas (Auckland), H. W. Mayo (Auckland), E. Burbidge (Auckland) and G. T. Thurston (Christchurch), and for the employers Messrs. J. Black and G. Grey (Dunedin), W. J. Buckley, R. C. Porter (Auckland), G. M. Hall and F. N. Lawrence (Christchurch) and T. O. Bishop (Wellington). At the conclusion of the sitting Mr. Roberts, on behalf of the workers and the members of the council, wished Mr. Bishop a pleasant trip to Europe and a speedy return.
