Party For Bride-to-be A very pleasant afternoon party was recently given by the Misses Lorraine Melton and Marie Melville, who were joint hostesses at the former’s home, at a kitchen tea in honour of Miss. Doreen McCubbin, whose marriage takes place shortly. Mrs. Melton, in black and white marocain, received the guests with the young hostess. Miss Melton wore eau-de-nil marocain, and Miss Melville white French crepe. Miss McCubbin, who received many useful gifts, wtis in a smart gown of double blue crepe romaine. Among those present were Airs. M. Brons, Mrs. Ina Allan, the Misses AL and K. McCubbin, 1. and 11. Ryan, V. Teller, R. Buchanan, 11. Ingwerson, 11. and M. Warrant, E. de Lune, H. Jupp, J. Allison, J. Avery and G. Till. Music Party On Tuesday evening Airs. Isohel Robertson and Aliss Eleanor Pharazyn gave a delightful party at their flat in Hawkestone Terrace in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Pinney, Torquay, and as a farewell to other friends leaving NewZealand shortly. Air. and Airs. Pinney, who came to the Dominion last year, by the Alataroa, were so charmed with the country that they returned this year by the Akaroa, which, in continuance of its 100-day round tour, will leave Wellington on its homeward voyage at daybreak on Wednesday next week. The rooms were bright with big bowls of gladioli, and the guests were entertained with music, and an excellent supper was served. There were piano solos by -Airs. Gerald Wilson (Onga Onga), Miss Gladys Watkins and Aliss Ormi Reid, and Airs. Wilson and Aliss Reid played accompaniments for songs by Airs. Robertson and Mr. Claude Batten and violin solos by Airs. AVilliam Prouse, who also played obligatos for Airs. Robertson’s songs: and Air. T. V. Anson played and sang several cheerful ditties. Among others resent were Captain Somers, of the Akaroa, Squadron Leader and Airs. Gerald Stedman, Air. and Airs. J. R. Sutcliffe, Airs. AV. S. Pearce, Dr. and Airs. Heywood, Air. and Airs. Rowland Ellis, Air. and Airs. Campbell Heard (Alasterton), Airs. CUgude Batten, Airs. Christophers, Airs. E. Alawley, Aliss Helen Thomson, Air. AV. Prouse, Air. J. Stevenson, Air. W. S. Bennett, Air. T. A r . Anson, Air. Courtenay' Hall.
