The bush on Taupiri Mouniain was threatened by fire the other afternoon, when a fire from the railway line crossed the Maori burial ground “nd, fanned by a strong wind, entered the bush on the south side. Anxiety for the safety.of the native trees was felt by the residents of the surrounding district as the flames leapt higher and higher. However, after burning about 100yds, of the bush, the fire burnt itself out, and for the third time this summer the bush escaped destruction.
