Town v. Country Cricket

Sir,—The Wellington Cricket Association must play a Town v. Country match this season lor two reasons—firstly, to give the selector a chance to remedy his mistakes, and secondly, to demonstrate the real difference between town and country cricket. There should be no putting in of colts for the sake of experience, but the best team should be selected irrespective of age, and my team would be. in order of batting:—Christopherson, Foley, Ward, McLeod (captain), Lamason, Tindill, Trieklebank, Ell, Parsloe, Blundell, Griffiths. If Foley is not available, I would have Dustin to partner Christopherson, and to fill the vacancy in the slips I would substitute Crook for Parsloe, although that would mean weakening Tricklebank’s relief and take away another left-hand batsman. Some people (with some justification, I must admit) would not have Griffiths but he has the talent and might be given another chance. The alternative would be a left-hander —Bryant, Dean, or King (Karori), but none of these appears good enough.—l am, etc.. L; A. THOMSEN. Wellington, January 24.
