WEDDINGS

Twist—Mexted At St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Porirua, on Saturday, Eileen Mary, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Mexted, Porirua East, was married to Theo Thomas, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Twist, Plimmerton. The ceremony was performed by the vicar, the Rev. N. E. Winhall, and Mr. Renwick presided at the organ The bride, who .was given away by her father, wore a charming gown of white, satin, cut on close-fitting lines, and flaring from the knees into a train. Her long embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head with sprays of orange blossom, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of cream roses, lilies and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, the Misses Stella (chief) and June Mexted. sisters of the bride, wore frocks of pink crepe de chine, cut on princesse lines, with fullyflared hems and large puff sleeves to the elbow. Their hats were of the same material as the frocks, trimmed with velvet ribbon, and they carried bouquets of pink roses, hydrangeas and (maidenhair fern. Coleen Mexted, sister of the bride, who was Hower girl, wore a long pink embossed organdie I frock with frills on the skirt, and puff sleeves. Her headband was of ribbon, and her posy of carnations Mr. Ron Cameron, Plimmerton, was 'best man, and Mr. Bruce Thompson, Wellington, acted as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Porirua, where the guests were received, by Mrs. Mexted, the bride’s mother, who was in a smart wine ensemble with hat to match. She carried a posy of dahlias, carnations and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Twist, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy dress, and her posy was of pastel-tinted flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Twist left by car for a trip north, which will include the thermal districts. The bride’s going-away dress was blue, with straw hat and bag to match. KNITTING FASHIONABLE! Reports from England show that knitting is as fashionable as ever. Coats, skirts, costumes are in particular favour as the fashion books indicate.
