HOSPITAL HEAD

Medical Superintendent, Palmerston North DR. J. H. NORTH, DUNEDIN Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 21. Subject to the approval of the Minister of Health, the Palmerston North Hospital Board this afternoon decided to appoint Dr. J. H. North, resident surgical officer and tutor at the Dunedin Hospital, as medical superintendent at the Palmerston North Hospital. Dr. North, who holds the qualifications of M.B. Ch. B. (N.Z.), 1927, and F.R.C.S. (England), 1932, practised his profession at the Hampstead General Hospital, London, the Royal Infirmary, Wigan, Lancashire, on two occasions, and at the Royal South Hants and Southampton Hospital, England, prior to taking up his position at Dunedin. Dr. North succeeds Dr. F. G. Ward, who recently resigned to take up private practice. Four applicants approved by the board last month were interviewed this afternoon. Dr. North is 31 years of age.
